I stood and watched you walk down that aisle as you clutched your uncle’s hand.
I’m none too sure where your thoughts did lie, but I hope you understand.
My thoughts were phased and yet so clear as you slowly walked away.
There are some things that you should know I haven’t had time to say.
This man that you now marry is blessed by God I’m sure.
He has joined now with a woman whose heart I know is pure.
I’ve been blessed with many friendships in my thirty-something years,
But few have been so endearing… to the point of shedding tears.
I hope you both share happiness and enjoy the life that you now start.
Through the love of two such people, you will never be apart.
I’ve told you why this day is special… this 29th of May.
On this day my Dad was born he’d be 65 today.
Now memories we all foster and new one we now can see.
I thank you both for choosing this day, although I know it was not for me.
So, I tip my glass to Leah and I’ll give a wink to Craig.
I know that I just met you but I’d like to pull your leg.
You’re such a lucky fellow. You’ve got quite the lovely lass.
If I weren’t the gentleman me mudder raised, I’d say kiss me friggin’ ass.
